A Moment of Joy and Grace
I walked down to Dollar Tree this afternoon, because I was craving some kind of ice cream ,and that was the closest place to me. After carefully picking out a box of Snicker’s ice cream bars, I walked up to the counter. Ahead of me was a lady with a cart filled with bargains. We smiled at each other and she said, “Honey, go ahead of me since you only have one thing. I asked, “Are you sure? I mean, if I don’t eat this ice cream bar soon, I may fall down .” She laughed and said , “Absolutely,” and held up her own container of ice cream. We hooted at each other and the woman behind the cash register joined us, and we all Amen’d that sometimes nothing but chocolate ice cream will do. Taking my bag, I said “thanks again for your kindness” and both women said in unison, “You’re welcome!” And then they started arguing about who I was saying thank you too. We all burst out laughing again and I walked away saying “Thank you, God” for this joyful moment of grace in the midst of such chaos.
